Job Description

Quantitative Analyst I positions offered by Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka (Topeka, Kansas). Participate and assist with the MRA operations group by fully supporting all related activities performed following operational processes from data management process (DMP) to backing up the operations group to researching valuation and other processing issues. Generate analyses and reporting of the sensitivity of the FHLBank's market risk measurement metrics. Provide direct support of the operations group by providing technical, operational backup and research and review functions for each of the key processes managed and performed by MRA, including ASC815, market value and duration of equity, key rate duration, value-at-risk (VaR), income simulation, market data population, calibration, prepayment model performance, as well as active monitoring of and performing revisions as necessary to the control structure and documentation supporting these processes. Conduct evaluation of new model version testing following the model testing road map and project plan. Evaluate the new model version release notes provided by the respective vendor, while providing analytical support. Provide income simulations, financial instrument valuations, and market risk metrics are benchmarked and documented. Support with the development and implementation of new and existing data management arrangements in partnership with the Information Technology (IT) department, as well as support the development and implementation of documentation and control structure function. Support all aspects of independent financial model validations, as well as participate in the remediation of any identified technical observations. Provide analysis to be used by the Capital Markets, Member Products and other departments in the development of strategies to modify the existing market risk profile to a desired level under various market conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a master's or foreign equivalent degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, computer science, economics or related field.
Must have demonstrated proficiency in the following:

  • Working with financial markets and market risk modeling, including interest rate derivatives, or experience in business analytics and reporting with emphasis on statistical analyses.

  • Mathematical or statistical modeling.

  • Utilizing database and spreadsheet applications.

  • Independently composing and scripting algorithms in Python and VBA; and

  • Utilizing financial modeling techniques and products, including theoretical constructs and the associated relational terms and applications.

Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.

Position reports to Topeka, KS, but may telecommute from any location in the U.S.
