Volunteer Opportunity: Veteran Volunteer
Dependable Hospice - We Honor Veterans Program
Location: Southern Arizona (Multiple Locations)
Commitment: Flexible, typically 2-4 hours/week
Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator
Status: Volunteer (Unpaid)
Make a Difference in the Life of a Fellow Veteran
Dependable Hospice is proud to partner with the We Honor Veterans program-a national initiative recognizing the unique needs of America's veterans and their families at the end of life.
We're seeking Veteran Volunteers and Active-Duty Service Members & their Families who want to give back to their fellow veterans by providing meaningful companionship and support. Your military background offers a shared bond that brings comfort, understanding, and healing to those who've served.
Whether it's a bedside visit, a pinning ceremony, or a heartfelt conversation-your time can have a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
  • Offer peer-to-peer support and companionship to veteran hospice patients
  • Participate in pinning ceremonies and "Welcome Home" events
  • Support veteran-to-veteran matchups and discussion groups
  • Engage in veteran-focused outreach and education
  • Distribute legacy kits and honor materials
  • Represent Dependable Hospice at community, civic, and military appreciation events
  • Provide emotional support to veteran family members and caregivers
