Anthem's Site Safety Advisor (SSA) will be responsible for maintenance, monitoring and advising the project-specific safety program, as directed by the Safety Managers.


You

  • Are able to conduct meetings and speak to large groups
  • Have a deep knowledge of local Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
  • Are able to meet deadlines
  • Have the ability to build positive working relationships with our trade partners & site teams
  • Know when to "pick your battles"
  • Have knowledge of Return-to-Work programs for injured workers
  • Are an excellent communicator
  • Can provide options for safety compliance
  • Will attend trade safety start up meetings


You will


Daily

  • Administer first aid
  • Do formal project site inspections
  • Collect and review forms and permits e.g., FLHA, Ground Disturbance, Hot Work, Lead Edge, etc.
  • Provide safety and environmental guidance and support to the superintendent
  • Complete Incident Investigation Reports when required
  • Review and track toolbox minutes and Hazard Assessment forms
  • Review Site Safety Inspection Reports
  • Complete Safety Orientations
  • Collect and review Site-Specific Safe Working/Job Procedures
  • Collect and review Fall Protections plans
  • Provide information and support with respect to the application of safety to field personnel


Weekly

  • Complete weekly Safety stats
  • APG toolbox talk
  • File trade safety documentation


Monthly

  • Inspect emergency equipment
    • DEP Box
    • Emergency Box- fire extinguisher, air horn
    • Fall Protection
  • Evaluate our trade partners compliance and report to the Project Manager for action, if required
  • Conduct the Monthly Trade Safety Meeting
  • Complete the Monthly CSO Inspection Report Summary


You have

  • A current CSO certification
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in safety
  • Industrial First Aid Level 2 certification with transportation endorsement
  • Strong organization and people skills
  • A trade background (strongly preferred)
  • Strong computer skills including experience in Electronic Safety Systems such as SiteDocs
  • Knowledge of construction work processes, tools, and machinery
  • The ability to guide train and teach site crews regarding safety
  • Understanding of current regulations, bylaws, and utility protection
  • Be a strong in Regulatory knowledge and advise the site superintendent accordingly
