Job description

JOB PURPOSE:
The Sterilization Tech will support the dentist, and team, in providing quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work independently, sterilize and maintain instruments, equipment, set up and break down of treatment areas, and providing a clean and professional environment in general spaces
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Scrubbing, washing, and disinfecting used surgical instruments and equipment to remove biological debris
  • Operating various types of sterilization equipment
  • Carefully assembling and packaging cleaned instruments and supplies using appropriate materials to protect them during storage and transport
  • Tracking supplies, managing the inventory of sterile tools, and ensuring an adequate supply is available to meet the facility's needs

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of sterile processing techniques, medical terminology, and the proper use of sterilization equipment
  • Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for ensuring instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks independently and in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical teams and other staff to report status and coordinate needs
  • Knowledge of and adherence to infection control protocols, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and other relevant regulatory standards
