Job Description:

Dentist - Hourly

East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH) is currently seeking two part-time Dentists.

ECRH has two campuses: Gracewood, established in 1921; and Augusta, established in 1969. On July 1,2003, these two previously separate facilities were officially consolidated and became ECRH. Thefacilities serve 33-county area.

East Central Region (Region 2). The 420-acre Gracewood campus provides services for people livingwith developmental disabilities in both an ICF/IID and a skilled nursing facility setting. The310-acre Augusta campus provides mental health and forensic services. Each campus includes livingareas, activity areas, administrative buildings, and support buildings.

ECRH currently employs approximately 900 staff and is owned and governed by DBHDD. It is accreditedby The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations under standards forHospital, Behavioral Health, Laboratory, and Long-Term Care.

The successful candidate must be able to perform the following:

  • Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
  • Diagnoses, treats, prevents and controls disorders of the teeth and mouth including gums andrelated oral structures.
  • May treat diseases of nerve, pulp and other dental tissues affectingvitality of teeth.
  • Advises and instructs patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes andtreatment of dental problems, and oral health care services.
  • Designs, makes, and fits prosthodontic appliances such as space maintainers, bridges, and dentures, or write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for denturists and dental technicians.
  • Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums and related oralstructures, and provide preventive and corrective services.
  • Examines teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnosticequipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriatetreatments.
  • Fills pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials.
  • Formulates plan of treatmentfor patient's teeth and mouth tissue.
  • Supervises and plans workload of support staff. Uses air turbine and hand instruments, dentalappliances and surgical implements.
  • Uses masks, gloves and safety glasses to protect themselves andtheir patients from infectious diseases.
  • Write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications.
  • Designs, coordinates, and oversee internal projects.
  • May serve as a lead worker.
  • May train subordinate staff in proper procedures of day-to-day operations

Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry from an accredited college or university AND Threeyears of experience AND current Georgia license to practice dentistry.

This is temporary or hourly paid work performing professional health care services. Positions in this job are established for less than 9 months or scheduled for less than 30 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits if the position status is temporary (i.e., SCOA 513). Positions in this job are established for greater than 9 months and scheduled for greater than 30 hours per week if the position status is permanent labor (i.e., SCOA 512). Normally permanent labor positions are eligible for Health Insurance benefits.
