What are the typical challenges faced by dentists working on an hourly basis in group practices?

Dentists working hourly in group practices often encounter challenges such as adapting to varying patient loads, managing time efficiently between appointments, and collaborating with different team members each day. They may also have less control over their schedules and treatment plans compared to dentists in private practice. However, this environment offers valuable exposure to diverse cases and allows for professional growth through teamwork and mentorship opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Dentist Hourly, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dentist Hourly, you need a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and a valid state dental license, along with strong clinical skills in diagnosis, treatment, and preventive dental care. Familiarity with dental imaging software, digital charting systems, and dental instruments is typically required. Excellent communication, patient empathy, and time management skills help build trust and efficiently manage appointments. These competencies ensure accurate diagnoses, effective treatments, and a positive patient experience in a fast-paced, hourly-based dental environment.

What are dentist hourly jobs?

Dentist hourly jobs refer to positions where dentists are compensated based on the number of hours they work, rather than a fixed salary or per-procedure payment. This type of arrangement is common in dental clinics, community health centers, or temporary staffing situations where flexibility is needed. Hourly dentists often fill in for other dentists, handle overflow patients, or provide services at multiple locations. The pay rate can vary based on experience, location, and the type of facility. Working hourly can offer flexibility, but may not always include benefits such as health insurance or paid time off.

Job description

General Dentist Needed

New Mexico Community Dental is GROWING!! We are one of New Mexicoโ€™s busiest dental clinics, with well over 5,000 active patients. To keep up with our patient needs, weโ€™ve added 6 more operatories with brand new modern equipment throughout the clinic and are in need of an additional full-time dentist.

NMCD is a different kind of dental clinic. Our commitment is to our patients and we show it through our core values of integrity, trust, honesty, service and our passion for people! That goes for our employees as well; we treat them like partners and provide opportunities for growth, advancement and success in the dental industry.

Our dentists are paid commission based on their individual collectable production, not collections, which gives great opportunity for earning $175,000 - $225,000 annually. NMCD pays all lab fees and provides each doctor with an incredible team of assistants and front desk staff. You just show up and do dentistry, and leave the rest to us. Our teams work three 11-hour shifts per week, and we are very flexible working around any needed time off and vacations.

Our benefits for full-time team members include free dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance and 50% of your medical plan. We also pay for malpractice policies.

To apply, you must be licensed to practice in New Mexico, willing to work hard and be coachable.
