What is a dental forensic specialist?

Dental forensic specialists, also known as forensic odontologists, are professionals who use their expertise in dentistry to assist in the identification of deceased individuals and the investigation of crimes. They analyze dental records, bite marks, and oral structures to help law enforcement identify unknown bodies and provide evidence in criminal cases. Their work is crucial in situations where traditional identification methods, such as fingerprints, are not possible. Dental forensic specialists often collaborate with pathologists, law enforcement agencies, and legal teams during investigations.
