What is a dental associate?

Dental associates are licensed dentists who work as employees or contractors within a dental practice, typically under the supervision or partnership of a practice owner. Their responsibilities include diagnosing oral health issues, performing dental procedures such as fillings and extractions, educating patients on oral hygiene, and sometimes supervising dental staff. Dental associates provide patient care but generally do not have ownership or management responsibilities in the practice. This role is often sought by new graduates or dentists who prefer to focus on clinical work rather than business operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a dental associate?

To thrive as a Dental Associate, you need a comprehensive understanding of general dentistry, clinical procedures, and a valid dental degree with licensure. Familiarity with dental practice management software, digital radiography, and infection control protocols is typically required. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities ensure effective patient care, efficient practice operations, and strong patient relationships within a dental team.

What are some typical challenges dental associates face when transitioning to a new practice?

Dental Associates often encounter challenges such as adapting to new office protocols, integrating into an established team, and building rapport with existing patients. Each dental practice may use different technologies or workflow systems, so there can be a learning curve when familiarizing oneself with new tools and treatment planning processes. Additionally, Associates may need to balance productivity expectations with providing high-quality care, which requires effective communication and time management skills. Building trust with patients and colleagues is key to a smooth transition and long-term success within the practice.

Job description

General Dentist โ€“ Private Practice | Libertyville, IL

Attar Dental is a private, single-doctor general dentistry practice located in Libertyville, IL. We pride ourselves on providing personalized, high-quality care in a welcoming, patient-focused environment. Our small team allows for a close-knit culture, strong patient relationships, and a high level of clinical autonomy. We are looking for a motivated General Dentist to join our practice and become an important part of our continued growth.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a dentist who wants to practice dentistry on their own terms while enjoying the support of an established private practice.

  • 33% of collections, less 50% of laboratory fees
  • Strong earning potential with an established patient base and approximately 95% collection rate
  • Mondayโ€“Thursday schedule, with flexibility for a Tuesdayโ€“Thursday schedule
  • Primarily fee-for-service patient base
  • In-network with Delta Dental Premier
  • Initial 1-year associate agreement , with potential for a long-term/full-time position afterward
  • Potential future partnership/ownership opportunity for the right individual

Youโ€™ll have the opportunity to provide comprehensive general dentistry and develop your own patient relationships without the layers and bureaucracy of a large corporate practice.

Who Weโ€™re Looking For

Weโ€™re looking for a confident, personable General Dentist who takes pride in their clinical work and enjoys getting to know their patients.

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Comfortable practicing independently in a solo-doctor environment
  • Strong in diagnosis, treatment planning, and comprehensive general dentistry
  • Patient-focused with excellent communication skills
  • Motivated to build a long-term patient base
  • Dependable, professional, and eager to contribute to a small team

We welcome dentists with additional clinical interests and skills. Endodontics and other advanced procedures are a plus, but absolutely not required. Our focus is finding the right GP who is comfortable with comprehensive, bread-and-butter dentistry.

New Graduates Welcome

New graduates are encouraged to apply if they are comfortable stepping into an independent, solo-practice setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dentist who is ready to take ownership of their clinical career, build strong patient relationships, and grow within a private practice environment.

Why Attar Dental?

If youโ€™re looking for a practice where your clinical decisions, patient relationships, and earning potential arenโ€™t buried in a corporate structure , this could be a great fit.

Youโ€™ll have the autonomy of a private practice, the stability of an established patient base, and the opportunity to build a long-term future with the practice.

Weโ€™d love to meet you. Apply today to learn more about Attar Dental and the opportunity to join our team.
