Job description

OverviewWe are recruiting for Dental Assistants (DA) and Registered Dental Assistants (RDA) to join one of our health centers.ย Experienced DA's or new Dental Assistant graduates are welcomed! We also offer higher pay for Registered Dental Assistants.

Our Dental Assistant's provide a positive patient experience and excellent quality care. They work closely with our dentists and supervisors to ensure that patients are calm, dentists are prepared, and information is communicated clearly. They can expect to prepare and arrange needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures. Hands necessary tools and equipment and provides assistance during treatment. Charts findings, change barriers, and sterilizes equipment.ย 

Responsibilities

Works closely with the RDA Supervisor and other members of the clinic management team to:

  • Provides prompt dental support; promotes a smooth patient flow; collects and records data accurately; maintains order of the back office, equipment and supplies.
  • Achieves the organizational mission to provide health care access for all the members of the community. Helps make sure patients and families get the care they need when they need it.
  • Consistently and openly communicates with supervisor and all staff.
  • Works flexible or extended hours where necessary.
  • Participates in health center in-services and meeting, listening and respecting others' ideas.
  • Abides by Rules of Confidentiality.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Completed training program in Dental Assisting from Accredited College is required
  • X-Ray certificate is required
  • Coronal Polish certificate is required.
  • CPR Card is required

ย LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Possess a valid Driver's license

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience, preferred

SKILLS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.

The hourly wage range that UHC reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire starts at $22 an hour. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
