Description

Summary of Position:

The laborer position requires general construction knowledge that includes concrete formwork systems, concrete placing and finishing, general demolition, and general mechanical work. This position requires knowledge and utilization of construction tools. The laborer position will also work with underground piping, process piping, and process equipment installations.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support carpenters in aligning and verifying the correct placement of forms for footings, walls, columns, and decks
  • Coordinate with assigned crew to ensure successful concrete pours
  • Maintain company tools and equipment in good working and safe order
  • Install below-ground and above-ground piping
  • Perform general demolition and other general labor throughout the project
  • Perform site cleanup
  • Assist equipment operators, carpenters, craft workers and other skilled labor when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by management
 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in the construction industry as a laborer
  • High School diploma or GED is preferred
  • The candidate must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure
  • Comply with all safety rules
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and/or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
