Job description

Ready to launch your environmental career in a role where you won't just observe-you'll lead, solve problems, and make a measurable difference? At ERM, you'll be part of hands-on project teams tackling complex environmental and construction challenges across North America. If you're looking for a role that accelerates your skills, expands your field experience, and sets you up for long-term growth, this is your opportunity.

Why This Role Matters

As a Consulting Associate, Environmental Construction (DDD), you'll play a key role in delivering high-impact remediation, demolition, decommissioning, and construction management projects for clients in the oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, and power sectors. Your work will help clients safely transform, restore, and repurpose sites, contributing directly to ERM's mission of shaping a more sustainable future.

What Your Impact Is

In this role, you will:

  • Support and oversee field activities to ensure safe, high-quality project execution.

  • Develop bid packages, engineering cost estimates, and construction oversight plans for complex environmental and DDD projects.

  • Serve as a trusted on-site leader, coordinating contractors, managing schedules, problemsolving in real time, and ensuring seamless communication between field crews and project managers.

  • Contribute technical expertise that drives successful project outcomes and builds strong, lasting client relationships.

What You'll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field. Or equivalent experience.

  • 1-3 years of experience in environmental engineering or construction management consulting.

  • Experience working on construction or remediation sites (DDD experience preferred).

  • Proven ability to prepare and implement work plans, support field programs, and contribute to report writing.

  • Strong commitment to safety; OSHA 40hour HAZWOPER required.

  • Ability to estimate, track, and manage project costs and documentation; familiarity with cost estimating tools.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and clientservice skills.

  • Experience overseeing subcontractors and supporting field execution.

  • Ability to coordinate site personnel, contractors, and vendors.

  • Willingness to travel or temporarily relocate for field assignments across the U.S., as needed.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Experience specifically in demolition, decontamination, and decommissioning (DDD) oversight.

  • Background supporting construction management or environmental remediation from design through execution.

  • Familiarity with reviewing contractor submittals, change orders, and compliance documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute remediation, DDD, asbestos, and construction projects, including design reviews, cost opinions, work progress tracking, and schedule management.

  • Lead on-site activities such as pre-construction meetings, field supervision, subcontractor coordination, and progress reporting.

  • Review contractor submittals (RFIs, clarifications, required documentation, change order requests) to ensure compliance with project specifications.

  • Provide construction management and quality assurance on environmental and earthwork projects, including site restoration and remedial system installations.

  • Serve as Field Safety Officer for investigation, remediation, and DDD projects: develop and implement site-specific Health & Safety Plans, conduct daily safety briefings, and maintain all safety records.

  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during inspections or contract administration.

  • Evaluate and manage subcontractor performance; negotiate and resolve change orders as needed.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between field teams and the in-house Project Manager to ensure alignment with project plans, specifications, and client expectations.

  • Support business development by identifying upcoming opportunities, meeting with clients, and contributing to proposals, interviews, and project contracting.

For the Consulting Associate, Environmental Construction (DDD) position, the anticipated annual base pay is $69,386-$85,420 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, parental leave, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, AD&D insurance, 401(k) or RRSP/DPSP, and other applicable benefits to eligible employees.

Note:Bonuses, commissions, and other forms of additional compensation are not guaranteed and subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures.
