Your role in the mission:
The Senior Design Integration Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all Fusion Island, Balance of Plant (BOP), facility, laboratory, prototyping, and testing systems are fully integrated into a cohesive, buildable, operable, and maintainable plant. This role serves as the central integration leader across engineering disciplines, internal stakeholders, and external partners to align plant design, infrastructure, interfaces, and execution strategies throughout the project lifecycle supporting efforts by the Technical Directors of the Fusion Island and the Balance of Plant as well as the various Technical Leads.
The position combines advanced technical expertise with leadership, planning, coordination, and project execution responsibilities to ensure the successful integration of complex systems while supporting major design, construction, commissioning, and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the integration of Fusion Island, Balance of Plant (BOP), facility, laboratory, prototyping, and testing systems into a cohesive, buildable, operable, and maintainable plant design.
  • Support definition, management, and resolution of interfaces between engineering disciplines, organizations, contractors, and external partners to ensure alignment of plant-wide design objectives and requirements.
  • Drive resolution of cross-functional design conflicts, integration gaps, and technical risks while maintaining a consistent and controlled plant design baseline throughout project development.
  • Lead planning and development activities for facilities, laboratories, prototyping, and testing environments, including the development of engineering specifications, design criteria, scopes of work, and capital project requirements.
  • Support site layout optimization, utility integration, equipment installation planning, material flow, maintainability, and operational readiness to support efficient construction, commissioning, and long-term operations.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility studies, risk assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and long-range planning activities to support strategic engineering and infrastructure decisions.
  • Support project execution through major design, construction, commissioning, startup, and turnover milestones, including readiness activities associated with all Technical Progress Reviews.
  • Lead, as necessary, and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, all established Projects, consultants, contractors, and engineering service providers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
  • Help support and manage engineering priorities, resource planning, technical standards, documentation, and project reporting while mentoring and developing engineering staff.
  • Champion engineering excellence, continuous improvement, safety, accountability, and collaboration across all integration and development activities.

What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in complex plant, facility, infrastructure, energy, industrial, or engineering development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts and integrating multiple systems into a functional operational asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, risks, and multidisciplinary project teams.
