Demo Tech information

What is a demo tech?

Demo Techs, short for Demonstration Technicians, are professionals responsible for setting up, operating, and showcasing products or equipment, often in a sales or event setting. They ensure that products are presented effectively, answer technical questions, and sometimes provide training or troubleshooting. Demo Techs commonly work at trade shows, retail locations, or special events, helping customers and clients understand the features and benefits of products. Their role may also involve assembling displays, maintaining demo equipment, and collecting feedback from users.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a demo tech?

To thrive as a Demo Tech, you need a solid understanding of construction processes, demolition techniques, safety protocols, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with power tools, heavy machinery, personal protective equipment (PPE), and OSHA certifications is highly valuable. Physical stamina, attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure safe, efficient, and precise demolition work, minimizing risks and supporting smooth project execution.

What are some common challenges demo techs face during product demonstrations, and how can they be addressed?

Demo Techs often encounter challenges such as unexpected technical glitches, varying levels of audience technical knowledge, and time constraints during product demonstrations. To address these, it's important to prepare thoroughly by testing all equipment beforehand, creating backup plans for common issues, and tailoring presentations to different audiences. Additionally, strong communication skills and the ability to think on your feet can help you adapt quickly and maintain a positive impression during demos.

Demo System Admin
Location: San Francisco, California (Remote)
Role Overview
You will administer the demo organization for the company's go-to-market teams' use for live customer demos and shape how demos are handled going forward. This is a hands-on ownership role: keeping the environment healthy, its users provisioned, and its demo capabilities current, then proposing what better demo infrastructure looks like for our sales and technical field teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the demo organization: users, seats, feature settings, org configuration.
  • Handle access and provisioning requests; troubleshoot user and demo issues quickly.
  • Keep demo features, connectors, and integrations working for customer-facing use.
  • Support provisioning and administration as the user base scales.
  • Propose and build improved demo handling and environments for go-to-market teams.
  • Partner with sales and technical field teams to understand and prioritize demo needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on administration of SaaS or enterprise org environments (provisioning, SSO/IdP, org settings).
  • Scripting and API skills to automate provisioning and admin work.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and fast, clear user support.
  • Comfortable serving go-to-market stakeholders and translating their needs into environment changes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demo engineering or sales engineering background.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI products.
  • Experience supporting a scaled sales org.
