Job description

Position Summary:

Ensures all NOW Illinois facilities and Fruitful Yield retail stores electrical system operates safely by installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems, electrical and electronic components of manufacturing machinery and facility equipment needed, in support of capital projects and maintenance activities. Acts as an Electrical SME to the sites. Completes other maintenance repair and works in the Building Maintenance area as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans layout and installs wiring, conduit and electrical equipment in buildings. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
  • Troubleshoots Dematic conveying and ASRS systems.
  • Supports project planning and equipment purchases. Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. Installs distribution and control devices such as circuit-breaker panels, switches, relays, etc.
  • Uses electrical drawings and wiring diagrams and manufacturer instructions to diagnose malfunctioning devices such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken components of building installations.
  • Uses electrical drawings and wiring diagrams and manufacturer instructions to test malfunctioning machinery. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards and faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches and motors, and positions sensing devices. Communicates with equipment manufacturer as needed.
  • Supports maintenance in diagnosing and repairing faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Serves as an electrical SME and ensures plant electrical activities are in compliance with all applicable electrical codes.
  • Completes paperwork as required. Initiates purchase order requests for parts and supplies.
  • In addition to Electrical, works on other aspects of engineering project installations including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc. Supports the Facilities Maintenance team as needed.
  • Completes other maintenance repair work as required and works in areas such as building maintenance.
  • Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Works closely with supervisors and cross-functional teams to identify trends and areas of improvement and implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, equipment performance, and efficiency.
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 10 years related electrical maintenance or electrician experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electrical trade school/certification strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of AC power from 480 volts to 120 volts and DC power 12 to 24 required.
  • Knowledge of control systems preferred.

Proven ability to Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment of a complex nature. Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals. Excellent problem-solving skills required. Good time management skills; ability to prioritize and calmly handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate a strong sense of urgency; and flexibility to change tasks frequently and work in different areas of Maintenance and locations as business needs require. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (S.O.P.). Ability to accurately and truthfully complete paperwork. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Excellent problem-solving ability.

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Flexibility to work in other areas of Maintenance (i.e. Building maintenance) and at other locations (i.e. BLM 391, Roselle, Knollwood/Scott Drive Corporate) to support business needs.
  • Ability to work off shifts and weekends and to travel to other facilities required.
