Brief Description: The SEED is a community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre. About 25% of households in Guelph are food insecure. The SEEDs goal is to change that by offering programs and services while advocating for systemic changes that tackle the root causes of poverty. We are supported by hundreds of amazing community members and by many partner organizations.

About The SEEDs Warehouse and Delivery work: The Warehouse and Delivery Associate plays an important role in The SEED's food distribution network, helping ensure nutritious food reaches community organizations, schools, and households throughout Guelph, Wellington, and Dufferin. Working from The SEED Community Food Warehouse, volunteers support the receiving, preparation, loading, and delivery of food, including grocery orders for Fresh Food Rx participants. By assisting with the safe and efficient movement of food from the warehouse to the community, Warehouse and Delivery Associates help increase food access and strengthen local food security for those who need it most.


Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Wholesale Enterprise Coordinator with warehouse operations and food distribution activities throughout Guelph, Wellington, and Dufferin.
  • Safely drive and/or assist with deliveries using SEED vehicles, including cargo vans and cube trucks.
  • Load and unload food orders and warehouse materials safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver food to community organizations, schools, and Fresh Food Rx participants along established routes.
  • Receive incoming food and warehouse shipments, verify quantities and quality against orders and invoices, and communicate any discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory management, including maintaining accurate inventory counts and updating product information as required.
  • Occasionally pick up food and supplies directly from suppliers and community partners.
  • Support order fulfillment, including sorting, breaking down, packing, and preparing products for distribution.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment, including stacking skids, sweeping, and managing garbage, recycling, and compost procedures.
  • Welcome and assist volunteers, delivery drivers, partner organizations, and visitors by answering questions and providing guidance.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet carts, manual pump carts, and industrial floor sweepers (training provided).
  • Serve as a keyholder when required, completing warehouse opening and closing procedures, including door checks, alarms, and lighting.
  • Communicate with SEED staff regarding delivery updates, concerns, or operational issues.
  • Hold a valid G driver's licence and be comfortable driving larger vehicles.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of Food Insecurity: Knowledge of the causes and effects of food insecurity, particularly within the Guelph-Wellington community.
  • Availability: Available to work 21 hours per week on a regular, ongoing basis. Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays, some mornings with an earlier start time.
  • Valid G Driver's license
  • Criminal record check
