Objectives
To provide support and companionship to local Veterans of Delaware County. Participate in community events and programs to raise awareness of Veteran concerns. Assist with planning and executing events for Veterans in Delaware County. Volunteers will be meeting with Veterans 1-2 times per week, locations may vary. Volunteers will recognize and pass on needs of each Veteran to the DCVSO Outreach Coordinator.
Job Standards
  • Reliable/Punctual - Dependable and on time.
  • Communication skills - Strong/effective interactive communication.
  • Flexible - able to quickly adapt to change, willing to take on new challenges.
  • Physically caring for oneself and assisting another on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must successfully complete the volunteer onboarding process including a drug screen and background check.

Essential Functions
  • Operates a motor vehicle safely in varying weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow, fog) and lighting conditions (e.g., daytime, nighttime, low visibility) while complying with all traffic laws and safety regulations;
  • Provides companionship and social support to Veterans in Delaware County through regular visits;
  • Participates in community events and programs to raise awareness of Veteran concerns;
  • Assists in planning, organizing, and executing events and activities for Veterans;
  • Meets with assigned Veterans 1-2 times per week at varying locations;
  • Observes and recognizes the needs of Veterans and communicate them to the DCVSO Outreach Coordinator;
  • Maintains respectful and professional interactions with Veterans, their families, and community members;
  • Represents Delaware County Veteran Services Office positively and advocates for Veteran resources and support services;
  • Hold as confidential, all aspects of the job;
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
