HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
As an Automotive Sander you will be responsible for prepping and sanding utility bodies and dump bodies for painting. This will be done under the supervision and instruction of the Branch Manager. You will work towards completing goals according to Dejana's standards by:
  • Sanding, washing, and conditioning parts as necessary. Light bodywork may be required.
  • Upkeeping work areas and equipment which may include preventative maintenance tasks
  • Inspecting product before, during, after process to ensure specifications are being met.
  • Communicating with supervisor regarding quality or procedure problems.
  • Performing all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to do precision work.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools
  • Detail-oriented and organized; self-motivated and able to meet manufacturing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of expertly prioritizing and multi-tasking.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma, equivalent or trade school certification required.
  • 1-3 years' experience in the preparation of automotive or heavy vehicle/equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, or automotive body shop.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Most of the workday is spent standing and walking on concrete floors. Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting are required. The ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required. Must be able to safely use hand tools and power tools and perform work requiring good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the production area for extended periods of time. Good vision and hearing are required to safely perform work and communicate with coworkers.
  • This position works indoors in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Work is performed in production and installation areas and may require both sitting and standing throughout the day.
  • Temperatures may vary throughout the facility depending on the work area. Exposure to hazardous fumes from paint and paint-mixing ingredients, noise, dust, and other conditions commonly found in a manufacturing environment should be expected.
