Job Description:

L3Harris is currently seeking a software engineer with a background and experience in embedded real-time software development. The qualified candidate will have exciting, challenging, and rewarding opportunities to support existing systems and develop next-generation military communications.

This important work contributes to the safety and effectiveness of U.S. and allied nationsโ€™ warfighters. The software engineers in this field often work on a variety of cutting-edge projects, as we design embedded systems for ground, air, shipboard, and space-based communication systems.

Essential Functions:

โ€ข Contribute to the lifecycle of embedded real-time systems by designing, coding, testing, debugging, and updating developmental and fielded systems 

โ€ข Maintain and review requirements, design documentation, and source code 

โ€ข Collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team 

Qualifications:

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

โ€ข Experience developing for Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
โ€ข Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance required; active clearance preferred

โ€ข Experience troubleshooting on embedded targets 

โ€ข Experience with test frameworks  

โ€ข Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review techniques 

โ€ข Exposure to signal processing, control systems, and networking 

โ€ข Exposure to drivers for hardware interfaces such as PCIe, 1553, RS232, SPI, I2C, FPGAs, and other unique hardware 

โ€ข Exposure to various operating systems including Linux, Unix, VxWorks, and Windows 

โ€ข Knowledge of protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, EtherCAT, CAN, RTPS/DDS 

โ€ข Knowledge of programming languages, compilers, and application execution 

โ€ข Knowledge of UML diagrams such as class diagrams, component diagrams, state diagrams, and sequence diagrams 

โ€ข Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment 

โ€ข Solid presentation and writing skills 

โ€ข Proficient with object-oriented C++ 

โ€ข Experience with embedded software design
