Job description

Sigma Defense is currently seeking a Network Engineer to join our team at Creech AFB, NV. The Centralized Network Operations Center (C-NOC) Network Engineer will support the Air Force in the operation and maintenance of the MQ-9 communications system, global network architectures to include the Aircraft Control Network (ACN), Sensor Product Dissemination Network (SPDN), Squadron Operations Centers (SOCs) ancillary systems, and relay site communication.

The hired candidate will support all MQ-9 stakeholders including ACC, ANG, AFSOC, SOCOM, USMC, ADC, and other external agencies. The Network Engineer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex network infrastructure and resolving escalated troubleshooting incidents. They will act as the final point of escalation for the C-NOC, performing root cause analysis, network planning, and ensuring high network availability.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of network administration with minimum 5 years as network engineer.
  • Security+, CCNP, or equivalent certification is required.
  • Network administration or Network Engineering experience.
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues, provide step-by-step instructions, and document tickets/fix actions/summaries clearly.
  • Ability to de-escalate difficult situations while working effectively with team members to resolve issues.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and install equipment weighing about 30 lbs., heavier equipment as needed with team lift.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active TS/SCI security clearance level or higher.
  • Clearance may be sponsored for the right candidate.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Standard work schedule will be day shift with weekend coverage.
  • Work may be temporarily required outside the standard work schedule, and may include rotating on-call responsibilities, to support mission priorities across 24/7 or extended business operations.
  • Provide engineering support for escalated troubleshooting support to the C-NOC.
  • In-depth comprehension of BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF protocols; layer 2 switching, multicast routing, DMVPN tunnels, and IPsec.
  • Troubleshooting interface between the controlled network and the transport system, OEM components, and configuration providers.
  • Perform authentication administration to include adding, removing, and adjusting privileges of associated accounts, as well provisioning of network address devices (NADs) within Cisco ISE.
  • Perform administration of SolarWinds maps to include updating and preforming initial connection of new devices via SNMP.
  • Provide situation reports, status updates, and assistance with any system upgrades and troubleshooting requiring aircraft and ground transport coordination to Government leadership and higher tier engineering as requested.
  • Directly support the development and testing of network configurations, system-monitoring, remote terminal provisioning, routine preventive maintenance, customer and OEM problem tracking, packet collection, and network outage resolution in all aspects of networking.
  • Provide administer training as needed to network administrators.
  • Monitor networks for performance, integrity, and security.
  • Plan and execute device software upgrades with the appropriate network owners and users.
  • Monitor, interface with, and configure High Assurance IP Encryptor (HAIPE) devices.
  • Assist in the development of processes and procedures for optimization and sustainment of C2R communications.
  • Troubleshoot end-to-end C2R communications over the ACN.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $165,000 annually.
