On-site in Cincinnati, OH

Type: Contract-to-Hire

Category: Engineer

Industry: Financial Services

Workplace Type: Remote

Our client seeks an AI Software Engineer to design and deliver guardrail components across services and define enforcement within systems. The role will architect backend services, APIs, and integrations that govern AI-driven system behavior across the engineering workflow. The position requires hands‑on technical leadership, strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, and a track record of cross‑service delivery and enforceable patterns adopted by other engineers.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $65.00 to $75.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver backend services and APIs that enforce system behavior across multiple services.
  • Define where and how enforcement, filtering, and validation occur within system architectures.
  • Build cross‑service controls and establish patterns for other engineers to implement.
  • Instrument and improve observability across service boundaries, including structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
  • Own shared tooling and platform components with broad organizational reach.
  • Mentor engineers on safe design, defensive programming, and failure handling practices.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5–8 years of software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
  • Advanced experience in AWS, including Lambda, Fargate, and API Gateway.
  • Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code in production, including Terraform.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable backend services and APIs across service boundaries.
  • History of defining enforcement patterns and interface contracts consumed by other teams.
  • Ability to reason about cross‑service dependencies, failure propagation, and contract stability.
  • Clear communication of defensive design principles.
  • Experience designing enforcement, filtering, or validation logic spanning multiple services.
  • Track record of defining interfaces, contracts, or patterns adopted by other engineers.
  • Experience with agentic workflows or multi‑agent systems.
  • Familiarity with LLM integration patterns such as prompt injection detection, guardrail design, or output filtering.
  • Nice to have: experience with AWS Bedrock, guardrail configuration, AgentCore runtimes, multi‑step workflow systems, or a background in platform engineering or developer tooling.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
