We're currently seeking a passionate and skilled Project Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality, engineered solutions to our customers worldwide. In this role you will be responsible for serving as the primary liaison for the customer throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring requirements and expectations are understood, aligned, and effectively executed. This role leads multiple complex programs simultaneously, ensuring seamless coordination and successful delivery within timeline and budget constraints. The Project Engineer oversees all program phases, including activities involving progressive stamping, factory automation, and related tooling and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary customer representative, ensuring expectations are clearly understood, communicated, and consistently met.
  • Oversee all aspects of programs from customer order through successful handoff to Manufacturing.
  • Follow the W-A Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) procedure that encompasses all tasks necessary to ensure adherence to W-A and ISO/TS quality standards. Manage completion of all APQP related documentation, including but not limited to: PFMEA's, Process Flowcharts, Control Plans, Capability Studies and Gage R&R's.
  • May be required to manage the creation and submission of documentation to customer for approval of contracted tooling and processes (typically referred to as PPAP in automotive industry).
  • Create and distribute project schedules. Set milestones and deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor progress and report status to management.
  • Lead Tooling Kickoff, Specification Review, and Lessons Learned (Postmortem) Meetings. Facilitate Design Review Meetings.
  • Develop and manage the input of initial BOM and detailed Routing for program in W-A MRP system.
  • Initiate and/or coordinate change control process (ECO) relating to Engineering documentation.
  • Oversee the initiation and/or coordination of the change control process (ECO) relating to the Engineering documentation.
  • Jointly responsible for successful transfer of tooling to Manufacturing along with Tool Room and Design Engineering functions.
  • Participate in customer, internal and registrar quality system audits.
  • Identify and facilitate new and/or special equipment needs along with Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Manage program risks by considering tradeoffs between time, cost, customer needs and product and manufacturing physics.
  • Interface with customers on technical and schedule-related issues. Communicate program progress to customers at regular intervals.
  • Assist in identifying areas for continued improvement and opportunities to gain organizational knowledge.
  • Maintain integrity of the W-A Project Engineering files/databases.
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Manager.

Requirements
  • Requires a 4-yr bachelor's degree in engineering, technical or management discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and at least 3 years of project management experience.
  • Prior experience in the automotive and/or medical industries preferred.
  • Experience working with high-volume and/or tight-tolerance manufactured products preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, detailed work, deadlines.
  • Must be flexible, analytical, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with multiple departments and work independently.
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Minitab.

This position is at our Elk Grove Village, IL location.
Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000 per year
