Job description

For the past forty-five plus years, we have supported Department of Defense customers by developing innovative remote sensing algorithms, tools, and techniques to deliver world-class data exploitation capabilities supporting missile defense; intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance; space domain awareness; and aircraft survivability missions.

SciTec has immediate opportunity for a Data Center Hardware & Procurement Lead to manage design, procurement planning, material acquisition, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination in support of schedule-critical program execution across SciTec’s technical portfolios. This role ensures timely purchasing of hardware, software, and infrastructure materials and plays a key part in maintaining momentum across engineering and development activities.

Responsibilities
  • Hardware & Datacenter Design Coordination
    • Coordinate hardware design for datacenter builds (rack layout, network topology, power, cooling, cabling, optics, storage, compute nodes).
    • Translate system architecture requirements into actionable hardware specifications.
    • Partner with IaaS, Factory Infrastructure, Chief Engineer and PMO leads to ensure alignment with datacenter phases.
    • Maintain configuration baselines, hardware standards, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management
    • Lead procurement for servers, storage arrays, network switches, KVMs, cabling, optics, power systems, and other datacenter hardware.
    • Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate pricing, validate technical compatibility, and track long-lead items.
    • Manage procurement schedules to meet critical path milestones and deployment timelines.
    • Oversee PO approvals, financial tracking, and hardware lifecycle planning.
  • Cross-Functional Integration
    • Support hardware installation, staging, and acceptance during factory and site deployments.
    • Collaborate with engineering, cyber, operations, and logistics teams to ensure hardware meets operational and security requirements.
    • Track risks related to hardware shortages, vendor delays, compatibility issues, and environmental constraints.
  • Oversight & Reporting
    • Maintain procurement dashboards, hardware BOMs, schedules, and risk logs.
    • Provide regular updates to PMO, IaaS, and engineering leadership on procurement status, blocking issues, and hardware readiness.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in datacenter hardware coordination, infrastructure planning, or enterprise hardware procurement.
  • Strong understanding of servers, storage, and networking hardware.
  • Experience managing procurement cycles, vendor relationships, and technical hardware deliveries.
  • Experience working with federal contractors or DoD programs.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, long-lead procurement planning, and technical material purchasing.
  • Strong vendor negotiation skills and familiarity with technical product sourcing.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (active clearance preferred)

The pay range for this position is $153,000 - $177,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
