Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Assistant Golf Professional to support the daily operations of our golf facility. This position is primarily responsible for cash register and point-of-sale (POS) transactions, assisting golfers in the golf shop, coordinating tee-time and player services, and providing an excellent experience for members and guests.
The ideal candidate is professional, organized, comfortable handling cash and credit card transactions, and knowledgeable about golf or eager to learn more about the golf industry.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the golf shop cash register and POS system accurately and efficiently.
  • Process cash, credit card, merchandise, green fee, cart rental, and other golf-related transactions.
  • Maintain accurate cash drawers and follow established cash-handling procedures.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including register reconciliation when assigned.
  • Greet golfers and provide friendly, professional customer service.
  • Check in golfers and assist with tee-time reservations and changes.
  • Answer questions regarding rates, course policies, merchandise, tournaments, and facility amenities.
  • Assist customers with golf shop merchandise purchases and maintain an organized, presentable retail area.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to general golf shop inquiries.
  • Communicate with starters, cart staff, outside services, and other golf operations employees to help maintain an efficient pace of daily operations.
  • Assist the Head Golf Professional and golf management team with tournaments, outings, leagues, and special events as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the golf shop and surrounding work areas.
  • Follow all company policies regarding cash handling, discounts, refunds, complimentary rounds, and employee transactions.
  • Perform additional golf operations duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, or cash-handling experience preferred.
  • Golf course or golf shop experience is a plus but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of golf terminology and etiquette preferred.
  • Ability to accurately handle cash and complete POS transactions.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Professional, friendly, and dependable demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using computers, POS systems, and tee-sheet/reservation software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as golf operations require.
