What is a dedicated team driver?

Dedicated Team Drivers are professional truck drivers who work in pairs to transport freight for a specific customer or along a set route. By driving in shifts, they can cover longer distances more quickly and efficiently than solo drivers, minimizing downtime. This arrangement is commonly used for time-sensitive deliveries and allows companies to provide consistent, reliable service to their clients. Dedicated team drivers often enjoy more predictable schedules and routes compared to over-the-road drivers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a dedicated team driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dedicated Team Driver, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), strong driving skills, and a clean driving record. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS systems, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is typically required. Excellent teamwork, communication, and reliability are crucial soft skills for coordinating schedules and managing long hauls with a partner. These skills ensure safety, efficiency, and reliable delivery performance in a demanding transportation environment.

What are some common challenges faced by dedicated team drivers, and how can they be managed?

Dedicated Team Drivers often face challenges such as coordinating schedules and communication with their driving partner, managing fatigue on long hauls, and adjusting to varying delivery deadlines. Effective teamwork and clear communication are essential to ensure smooth transitions during shifts and to maintain safety. Utilizing company-provided tools for route planning and adhering to hours-of-service regulations can help manage these challenges. Many companies offer support through driver managers and regular check-ins to address concerns and support driver well-being.

Dedicated FedEx Custom Critical Lane

LMB Distributors, LLC, a fleet operating with FedEx Custom Critical, is hiring an experienced CDL-A tractor-trailer driver for our established dedicated team lane.

San Bernardino, CA → Middletown, PA → San Bernardino, CA

This is a consistent dedicated FedEx Custom Critical lane that starts and ends in San Bernardino, giving California-based drivers the opportunity to return home every week.

If you're looking for steady income, a predictable route, dependable equipment, and a fleet that values its drivers, we'd love to speak with you.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • $2,000 per week
  • W-2 employee position
  • Paid weekly
  • Established FedEx Custom Critical dedicated lane
  • San Bernardino, CA → Middletown, PA → San Bernardino, CA
  • Approximately 5,120 team miles per round trip
  • Typically 4–5 days on the road
  • Approximately 2 days home each week
  • Home weekly
  • 53-foot dry van
  • Drop-and-hook

  • Consistent weekly dedicated freight
  • Planned time off around Christmas and New Year's
  • Newer, well-maintained equipment
  • Backup trucks available to help minimize downtime

  • Dependable, on-time pay

MINIMUM DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS

PLEASE REVIEW BEFORE APPLYING — CDL-A TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVERS ONLY

  • Valid CDL Class A required — no Class B applicants
  • Minimum 6 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience
  • Must have experience operating a 53-foot tractor-trailer
  • Must be comfortable with OTR/team driving
  • Must be willing and able to operate as part of a two-driver team

SOLO CDL-A DRIVERS ARE WELCOME TO APPLY

You do not need to already have a teammate.

If you're a qualified CDL-A tractor-trailer driver and are willing to team, we'd still like to hear from you. Qualified solo drivers may be paired with another approved driver for the dedicated lane.

WHY JOIN LMB DISTRIBUTORS?

We understand that drivers want more than miles. You want to know where you're going, what you're earning, when you're getting paid, and when you're getting back home.

That's what makes this opportunity different.

You'll be running an established FedEx Custom Critical dedicated lane rather than wondering from week to week where you'll be dispatched.

You'll start in San Bernardino, run the dedicated route to Middletown, Pennsylvania, and return to San Bernardino every week.

At LMB Distributors, we believe drivers deserve:

  • Consistent work
  • Dependable weekly pay
  • Well-maintained equipment
  • Backup equipment when needed
  • Clear communication
  • Professional treatment
  • Respect for the work you do

We're looking for someone who wants to become part of a dependable team and build a long-term working relationship with us.
