Job description

Sayres is seeking an experienced Lead Deck SME in San Diego, CA with a SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS.

Position Summary

The Lead Deck SME serves as the senior advisor for deck seamanship operations, maintenance, and readiness assessments aboard Navy ships and military auxiliaries.

Responsibilities

  • Assess deck operations and maintenance programs.
  • Evaluate anchor, mooring, crane, boat handling, and replenishment systems.
  • Conduct readiness inspections and technical reviews.
  • Provide recommendations to improve safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Support fleet readiness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years supervisory deck operations experience.
  • Experience serving as Boatswain or equivalent senior deck leadership position.
  • Extensive experience with Navy deck equipment and systems.
  • Direct operational and maintenance experience on current Navy systems.
  • 25+ years highly desirable.

Occasional travel may be required. Support is primarily based in San Diego, CA, with occasional travel to Navy fleet concentration areas including Everett, WA; Pearl Harbor, HI; Sasebo, Japan; Yokosuka, Japan; and Singapore, as well as other customer locations as required.

Salary Range: $90,000–$140,000, commensurate with experience. Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
