Job description

Position Overview

As a Divisional HR Manager, you will lead the HR strategy and initiatives for multiple operating companies across Kelso from the corporate offices in Salt Lake City (Draper), UT. You will partner with company leaders to build a high-performing workforce and culture that drives business success. This is a strategic, hands-on role where you will impact business outcomes by unlocking the full potential of our people.

In this role, you will: 

  • Own a regional group of operating companies by overseeing all HR-related activities and ensuring alignment with Kelso's strategic goals.
  • Lead Kelso-wide projects and initiatives as needed by senior leadership. Projects could include leadership development programs, HR analytics, compensation, etc.
  • Serves as a Business Partner to the Divisional Vice President
  • Build relationships with each OpCo's leadership by being a business partner, trusted advisor and primary interface between business leaders and HR support functions, including compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, HRIS, and employee relations.
  • Lead change by assessing organizational readiness, driving change initiatives, and ensuring alignment across structure, processes, systems, and culture.
  • Manage talent by proactively identifying, acquiring, developing, and retaining the human capability required to execute Kelso's growth strategy.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness by assessing and managing employee costs, talent quality, and aligning workforce capabilities to business needs.
  • Deliver functional excellence in key HR disciplines such as policy compliance, performance management, leadership development, talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee relations, and core HR operations.

Experience You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site, regional, or field-based capacity.
  • Proven experience leading HR strategy and operations in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in talent acquisition, workforce planning, and leadership development.
  • Ability to partner with senior leaders and influence business outcomes through people strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience working within the construction, skilled trades, or MEP+ industry is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a decentralized business model with multiple operating companies.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases, including ADP Workforce Now.
  • Project management and change management experience.

Working Conditions

  • Based out of the Draper, UT Corporate office with travel across the South Region (up to 50% travel).
  • Hybrid working arrangement means 3-4 days in office with 1-2 remote work.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
