Office of the Dean
Assistant Dean of Administration
The Assistant Dean for Administration reports directly to the Dean of the College of Human Sciences & Education and, in collaboration with the college's executive leadership, contributes to the strategic, financial, and operational planning and executive decision-making process. The position is responsible for providing administrative, analytical, and strategic support to college leadership to facilitate the effective and efficient functioning of the college in the key areas of administration, finance, and human resources that support mission and vision of the college. This position oversees the financial and administrative planning, budget development and implementation, policy formulation and organizational development, and deployment of resources, and ensures that proper operations and administrative systems are in place to foster the growth, efficiency, and financial strength of the college.
30% Administration
Oversee daily operations through collaboration with the college's executive leadership and department leaders, performing various administrative tasks; build and develop relationships with all employees of the college for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations and help to define new operational strategies, working with the executive leadership on special projects; oversees strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution under the guidance of leadership and departmental heads; assists and communicates with college leadership in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.
25% Financials:
Oversees the management of all CHSE accounts from all funding sources. Responsible for preparation and management of CHSE state operating budget. Includes but not limited to, working with Budget & Planning, Accounting Services and school-level administrative staff to establish and realign budget categories, monitor account balances, encumbrance and tentative transactions, and complete fiscal year-end close out. Uses budget data to assist with planning future needs for hiring, research, student support, and other college initiatives. Accurately maintains financial projections of various resource allocations, expenditures & account balances; manages college's unexpended salary savings report allocations & expenditure module; maintains financial reporting for internal & interdisciplinary initiatives of the college; oversees the accurate preparation of accounting transactions to maintain accuracy of college accounts. Provides strategic leadership in the development of budgets, business plans and financial models for entrepreneurial, self-generated, and sponsored enterprises of the college, including professional education, online programs, and grants/contracts; Preparation and Management of CHSE variable revenue streams, including but not limited to, the college's LSU Online and Professional Education portfolio. Determines and certifies net revenue calculations for use in the college's revenue sharing models; manages resources and revenue models across multiple restricted accounts for the college, its schools, and individual faculty members; maintains operating budgets and ensures accounting processes are conducted within University guidelines; develops and maintains reporting; mechanisms associated with college revenue-sharing for entrepreneurial, self-generating, and sponsored enterprises of the college; manages and reports on college-wide resource allocation and revenue sharing; facilitates the successful application and use of the performance model used by the college and its schools to ensure the success and profitability of summer term.
20% Human Resources:
Serves as the College's liaison to HRM Shared Operations Services, including working with HRM on personnel actions, policies, faculty hiring plans, and faculty/staff merit raise process. Advises Dean and HSE Administrative Team on policies, procedures, and best practices.
20% Supervision:
Provides direct oversight of the CHSE Office of Financial Services and staff which encompasses all budget, finance, and operations for the college's five degree-granting units, Sponsored Projects, the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool; approves financial and transaction documents on behalf of or in absence of the dean; assists in providing training and development to faculty and staff on new business system updates (Workday) for the university, when appropriate. Oversees the admin support personnel in Dean's Office.
5% Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 7 years experience
