Job description

We're partnering with the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) to find a detail-oriented Paralegal to provide legal and administrative support within an extensive legal services program, including maintaining legal files, preparing reports, organizing case information, and supporting attorneys with day-to-day legal matters.

The ideal candidate brings strong organizational, communication, and typing skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and confidential legal records, extract information from case files, prepare clear written and oral reports, and build effective working relationships with attorneys, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Pay & Job Highlights:
Pay Rate: $26.20 per hour
Location: Providence, RI

Responsibilities of the Paralegal:
  • Organize, maintain, and update legal files and records, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and readily accessible.
  • Review legal files and extract relevant information in response to requests from attorneys, supervisors, and other authorized personnel.
  • Prepare oral and written reports, correspondence, and other legal materials with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support attorneys and legal staff with case preparation, documentation, research, and other legal support activities as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and establish positive working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, attorneys, agencies, and other individuals or groups.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive legal, case, and client information.

Qualifications of the Paralegal:
  • Prior paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or related legal support experience is preferred.
  • Strong typing skills with the ability to accurately prepare legal documents, correspondence, reports, and other written materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain extensive legal files and locate information efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal software or case management systems is preferred.
