Overview
Avail Staffing is seeking 30-40 energetic and dedicated Cable Pullers with Active DBIDS clearance at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) to join our dynamic team. In the Cable Puller role, you will be responsible for assisting marine electricians by pulling, routing, and securing electrical cables aboard ships and marine vessels. This role plays a vital part in ensuring timely and accurate cable installations across a variety of shipboard systems. In the Laborer role, you will conduct abatement cleanup while training alongside Cable Pullers.

Cable Puller Responsibilities

  • Pull, route, and secure electrical cables through bulkheads, overheads, and cable trays aboard ships
  • Assist with the setup and organization of cable reels, pulleys, and pulling equipment
  • Support electricians with cable identification, labeling, and termination prep
  • Install cable supports, clamps, and penetrations as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while following safety and quality standards
  • Ensure cables are protected from damage during installation
  • Report any obstructions or issues that could impact routing or cable integrity

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in marine electrical environments with cable routing experience (shipyard experience preferred)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Physically able to lift, pull, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas aboard ships
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, physically demanding environments
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and safety procedures
  • Active Naval Station Norfolk DBIDS is required for access to secure sites
