Job description

GENERAL MANAGERHoliday Inn Columbia East - Columbia, MissouriLead the Reopening. Build the Team. Set the Standard.

Blue Sky Hospitality Solutions, LLC is seeking an exceptional, hands-on General Manager to lead the reopening of the Holiday Inn Columbia East following an extensive renovation.

This is not a traditional General Manager opportunity.

We are looking for a dynamic hotel leader who is energized by the opportunity to bring a property back to life - building the team, establishing the culture, preparing the operation, driving opening readiness, and positioning the hotel for long-term success.

The right leader will step in during a critical and exciting chapter for the property and have the opportunity to put their mark on virtually every aspect of the hotel.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As General Manager, you will lead the hotel through its pre-opening/reopening phase and into stabilized operations.

Your immediate focus will be ensuring the property is fully prepared to welcome guests - operationally, financially, culturally, and from a brand perspective.

You will:

  • Build and staff the hotel team across all operating departments.
  • Recruit and develop a strong leadership team.
  • Establish a positive, accountable, guest-focused culture from Day One.
  • Lead operational and brand readiness for reopening.
  • Partner with ownership, Blue Sky corporate leadership, and IHG.
  • Ensure departments are properly staffed, trained, equipped, and prepared.
  • Establish operating procedures, standards, controls, and accountability.
  • Drive a successful reopening and build momentum in the Columbia market.
ONCE THE DOORS OPEN - YOU OWN THE PERFORMANCE

Following reopening, the General Manager will have full responsibility for hotel performance, including:

Operational Excellence

Lead all aspects of hotel operations, including:

  • Front Office
  • Housekeeping
  • Engineering & Preventive Maintenance
  • Food & Beverage
  • Sales
  • Safety & Security
  • Guest Experience

Create strong daily operating rhythms, department accountability, property inspections, and consistent execution of IHG and Blue Sky standards.

Build an Exceptional Team & Culture

This hotel needs more than employees - it needs a team.

The GM will recruit, onboard, train, coach, engage, and develop leaders and associates who understand what exceptional hospitality looks like.

You will create an environment built around:

Accountability | Communication | Recognition | Teamwork | Guest Service | Leadership

Own the Guest Experience

Set the expectation that every guest interaction matters.

Monitor guest feedback and satisfaction trends, ensure strong service recovery, maintain visible leadership throughout the property, and continuously identify opportunities to improve the guest experience.

Drive Financial Performance

Take ownership of the hotel's financial results through:

  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • P&L management
  • Labor productivity
  • Expense controls
  • Revenue optimization
  • Purchasing and cost management
  • GOP performance
  • Market share growth
  • Strategic capital planning

The successful GM understands how operational decisions translate directly to financial performance.

Drive Revenue & Market Position

Partner closely with Sales, Revenue Management, and corporate leadership to successfully reintroduce the newly renovated hotel to the Columbia market.

Build relationships within the local business community and identify opportunities to grow corporate, group, leisure, and local demand.

Protect the Asset

Maintain the newly renovated property at the highest possible standard.

Partner closely with Engineering and corporate leadership to establish strong preventive maintenance practices, protect the investment made in the renovation, identify future capital needs, and prevent the property from slipping into reactive maintenance.

Brand, Safety & Compliance

Ensure the hotel consistently meets or exceeds:

  • IHG brand standards
  • Quality assurance expectations
  • Life safety requirements
  • Employment and regulatory requirements
  • Blue Sky operating standards
  • Required licenses and certifications
  • Workplace safety and risk-management expectations
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a builder, operator, and leader - someone who sees a reopening as an opportunity rather than a challenge.

Ideal Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive hotel leadership experience.
  • Previous General Manager experience strongly preferred.
  • Hotel opening, reopening, renovation, conversion, or turnaround experience highly desirable.
  • IHG experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to recruit, build, and develop high-performing hotel teams.
  • Strong operational knowledge across Rooms, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and Sales.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with strong knowledge of budgets, forecasts, P&Ls, labor management, and profitability.
  • Track record of improving guest satisfaction and operational performance.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively partner with ownership, corporate leadership, brand representatives, and department leaders.
  • Highly visible, hands-on leadership style.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred.
WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY?

Because you won't simply inherit an existing operation.

You'll help create what comes next.

You'll have the opportunity to reopen a renovated hotel, build the team, establish the culture, set expectations from the beginning, and create an operation you can be proud to lead.

For a hotel leader who loves building teams, driving results, creating culture, and making an impact, this is an opportunity to truly put your signature on a property.

WHAT BLUE SKY OFFERS
  • Competitive salary
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Hotel employee discount programs
  • Career growth opportunities across the Blue Sky Hospitality Solutions portfolio
READY TO BUILD SOMETHING GREAT?

If you're a proven hotel leader who is ready to reopen the doors, build the team, create the culture, and lead the next chapter of the Holiday Inn Columbia East, we'd like to hear from you.
