Job description

Do you enjoy helping people and learning how things work? If so, we would love to speak with you about this role. The Hilton Garden Inn is looking to add a Maintenance Person to the team. This person will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of the hotel. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing guest requests, and ensuring that all facilities are in excellent working condition. The Maintenance Person will work closely with the management team to identify areas needing repair and improvement, contributing to a positive guest experience. By maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety, this role directly impacts guest satisfaction and the hotel's reputation. Ultimately, the Maintenance Person will help create a welcoming environment that encourages guests to return.

Responsibilities:

  • Guest-first attitude!
  • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel premises to identify maintenance needs.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests for maintenance issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ordering as necessary.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk staff to ensure seamless operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance throughout the property, to include painting, carpet/floor cleaning, etc.
  • Perform minor repairs and/or replacements of room furniture, fixtures, and equipment to include television sets, light fixtures, etc.
  • Clean and maintain the hotel’s exterior areas, to include the swimming pool, parking lot, and all other aspects pertaining to the hotel’s overall landscape and curb appeal.
  • Report requests for major repairs to the Chief Engineer in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • Focused on safety and security and follows proper procedures to keep guests and associates safe.
  • Report all potential safety hazards to Chief Engineer and actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Assist other hotel departments as necessary.
  • Greets all guests and staff members in the hallways.
  • Occasionally deliver luggage to guest rooms.
  • Care for and maintains cleaning equipment including vacuums and chemical every day.
  • Be a team player and assist other employees in various assignments, such as collecting/delivering linen to laundry and operating hotel shuttle when assistance is needed.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Unrestricted Driver's License
  • Proven experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, often for a minimum of 2 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
  • On occasion is required to climb up and down ladders.
  • Must have general dexterity for firm and simple grasping of objects. Some tasks, such as the use of small repair tools, may also require fine dexterity skills.
  • Must be able to periodically kneel, reach, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull 60% of the time, to include when using a cart to carry linens, trash, tools, etc, or when operating equipment such as a lawnmower, pavement sweeper, wheelbarrow, etc.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 140 pounds with assistance
