Job description

 MATH TEACHER

POSITION SUMMARY

The math teacher is responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters academic,  social, and emotional growth of students. The teacher plans and implements lessons, assesses student progress, and collaborates with parents, colleagues, and administrators to ensure the success of each child.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare, and implement lesson materials in accordance with district resources and alignment with State standards and Antioch CCSD 34's philosophy and objectives
  • Employs a variety of instructional methods/techniques and materials to differentiate learning activities for all students
  • Create a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Actively engage in all data related meetings including weekly student learning team (SLT) meetings
  • Attend weekly professional development meetings
  • Promotes and maintains appropriate student behavior
  • Participates on committees to develop and improve instruction and/or other building level goals/initiatives
  • Actively pursues continual professional growth and is committed to our vision of making our school a place of excellence
  • Maintains accurate and complete records involving student information required by law, District policy, and administrative direction
  • Utilize technology devices to execute instructional technology to enhance learning
  • Ability to use diverse instructional strategies and varied methods of assessment to provide a differentiated instruction
  • Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading
  • Ability to work collaboratively with grade level team and school teams
  • Demonstration of strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills with colleagues, parents, and administration
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Middle School Endorsement in Math
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of current educational and instructional methodologies and techniques
  • Knowledge of theories and practices of child development

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, lifting, and bending, as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities. The work environment may involve exposure to typical levels of noise and activity associated with a school and on a school bus setting.
