Job description

At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected, a place where everyone is empowered to bring their authentic selves and novel ideas to work every day. Watch Our Story: ' https://www.hdrinc.com/our-story'

Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.

We believe building engineering is more than systems and structures, it's about powering progress and enabling innovation. As part of HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, you'll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. From high-performance data centers driving the future of AI to dynamic commercial environments, your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience. We bring together mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering experts to solve complex design challenges with precision, creativity, and collaboration. Whether you're optimizing energy efficiency, integrating resilient systems, or engineering the backbone of next-generation facilities, your contributions will help define the future of the built environment. This isn't just a job, it's a chance to lead innovation, engineer impact, and build a legacy of excellence.

In the role of Construction VDC Lead, we'll count on you to:

  • Serve as the onsite liaison between design teams, construction teams, subcontractors, delegated design partners, and field leadership
  • Be responsible for ensuring digital models support construction execution, constructability, field coordination, and installation requirements
  • Provide onsite construction support, such as maintaining a regular onsite presence within the project construction trailer(s), participate in construction coordination meetings and field planning sessions, quickly support for construction-related coordination issues, and walk the site to observe construction progress
  • Provide design and construction integration services, such as serving as the primary liaison between the design team and field construction teams, coordinate design changes, RFIs, bulletins, and construction updates, ensure approved changes are reflected within project models, and facilitate communication between design disciplines and field stakeholders
  • Be responsible for model management and quality control, with activities such as maintaining project model continuity throughout construction, performing BIM model quality reviews and constructability checks, supporting model updates required for construction execution, verifying models accurately represent approved design information, and identifying and resolving model issues impacting construction
  • Facilitate multi-discipline coordination by coordinating across all design disciplines, reviewing and resolving coordination conflicts, supporting clash resolution efforts and coordination reviews, and verifying discipline interfaces and installation requirements
  • Coordinate delegated design scopes with specialty contractors, collaborate with the integration of delegated design scope into project models, review impacts of delegated design on constructability and installation, and facilitate communication between delegated designers, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Provide constructability and installation support by reviewing constructability concerns before installation, verifying equipment access and maintenance clearances are maintained, evaluating installation sequencing impacts, identifying potential field conflicts before work is performed, and supporting efforts to reduce RFIs, rework, and schedule impacts

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of hands-on Revit modeling and coordination experience with at least 3 years supporting active construction projects
  • Experience working directly with subcontractors, superintendents, and field personnel
  • Experience supporting delegated design coordination
  • Experience with large-scale industrial, mission critical, manufacturing, healthcare, semiconductor, or data center projects
  • Advanced Autodesk Revit proficiency and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) experience
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods
  • Understanding of construction sequencing and installation practices.
  • Experience supporting RFI, submittal, and change management processes
  • Ability to evaluate constructability and installation constraints
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and modify production models
