Job description

Children's Mercy Opportunity

Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children's Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Children's Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children's health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Overview

The Division of Urgent and Express Care at Children's Mercy Kansas City is seeking full-time board certified/eligible General Pediatricians for its Urgent and Express Care facilities. Board certification is expected within 3 years of completion of training for this position. CMH Urgent and Express Care centers are staffed by pediatric-trained physicians and advanced practice providers. It offers on-site labs, x-rays, respiratory treatment, intravenous hydration, and medication administration.

The physicians work in cooperation and collaboration with community primary care providers. The position primarily involves clinical responsibilities. Physicians must be BLS certified and must be comfortable caring for pediatric patients with urgent medical needs. We are expanding our urgent and express care services in the Kansas City metro area and are searching for several highly qualified pediatricians to fill these exciting opportunities.

CMH Urgent and Express Care provides care to pediatric patients with illnesses or injuries that require prompt medical treatment. Procedures performed in urgent care include minor laceration repairs, foreign body removals, and incision and drainage of simple abscesses. We work with community pediatric caregivers for continuity of care for our pediatric patients and families.

We offer urgent care services at 3 locations in the KC metropolitan area: Blue Valley (Overland Park, KS), East (Independence, MO), and Northland (Kansas City, MO). These sites provide nearly 100,000 patient visits per year. We have approximately 35 Urgent Care physicians in the division including full and part-time positions. The Urgent Care Center hours of operation are from 11 am to 9 pm every day. We see patients seven days a week, 365 days a year. Children's Mercy utilizes Epic electronic medical records for all records. Comfort working with electronic medical records is a requirement.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are primarily clinical with administrative and academic components integrated into the practice. Physicians are expected to apply for appointment at an Assistant Professor rank or greater with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Physicians also have the opportunity to serve on hospital and division committees to support quality improvement efforts, clinical practice guideline development, and other initiatives.

The successful applicant must share our unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, collegiality, antiracism, and respect for inclusion of individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Additionally, it's important to us that we remain transparent with all potential job candidates. Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve, as well as the Children's Mercy staff, we want to let you know that the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.
