About the Job
The Night Shift Yard Operator at MLC is responsible for preparing and managing the loading of trailers for fleet drivers and other carriers, ensuring loads are secure, legally compliant, and clean.
  • Load required MLDS trailers for fleet drivers. Manage preparation and loading of trailers for other carriers using MLDS yard. Prepare loads for the road, ensuring legal weights, security of loads, as well as cleanliness of trailer
  • Perform DOT inspections of tractors and trailers for safe operation. Maintain proper paperwork with each loaded trailer. Perform minor maintenance work on trucks, trailers, or other MLDS equipment as capable and required
  • Drop and hook equipment daily
  • Perform normal deliveries as needed
  • Perform housekeeping and cleanup work area to maintain cleanliness of assigned and designated area. Perform and document housekeeping audits. Keep your areas clean and free of clutter
  • Acquire product samples for drivers as needed
  • Wash trailers and equipment when necessary or as assigned
  • Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • General knowledge and application of MLDS and MLC safety rules with an emphasis on proper use of safety harness and tie-off procedures, safe operation of pneumatic trailers, lock out / tag out, confined space entry, etc. The ability to read, understand and comply with all DOT guidelines is critical and is a minimum performance expectation of this position. Always use PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, full body harness, and steel toed boots as required by the plant location).
  • Skills: Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Effective communication skills. Computer background a plus.
  • CDL with at least 1 year truck driving experience. Pneumatic tank experience a plus.
  • Abilities: The physical ability to climb up and down ladders multiple times a shift, as well as the physical ability to lift 50-100 lbs regularly. The ability to independently solve problems and work on your own.
