We're hiring a Master Control Operator in Des Moines, IA to be a key player in our 24/7 operations hub. In this role, you'll help drive the success of live news, sports, and special event broadcasts across multiple channels. It's high energy, high impact - and no two days are the same.
What You'll Do:
  • Operate the multi-channel Master Control room, managing live events, playlists, graphics, and automation systems.
  • Maintain seamless broadcasts by preparing, monitoring, and adjusting playlists in real time.
  • Execute precision switching for live news and sporting events.
  • Monitor on-air feeds to ensure content matches programming schedules and meets technical standards.
  • Ingest, record, and prepare content for broadcast with a strong focus on accuracy and timing.
  • Ensure proper routing of video sources and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed.
  • Keep detailed logs and documentation on air discrepancies, timing, and run times.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with team members and management to support smooth shift transitions.
  • Stay sharp and adaptable in a mission-critical, fast-moving environment.

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in Master Control operations or broadcast environments (1+ year preferred).
  • Familiarity with live event production, news switching, and local station workflows is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple feeds and priorities.
  • Understanding of broadcast technology including automation systems, switchers, servers, and signal monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards related to audio, video, closed captioning, and loudness compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience with Amagi CLOUDPORT or similar cloud-based playout systems is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
