Senior Project Manager โ Electrical Constructionย
Type: Direct Hireย
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CAย
Salary: $150Kโ$190K DOEย
About the Roleย
We are partnered with a Fortune 500-backed electrical construction firm to recruit a Senior Project Manager for its San Francisco Bay Area operations, based out of its East Bay office. The firm has built and maintained electrical and low-voltage systems across Northern California for over 75 years, with the financial backing and bonding capacity of a national parent company and the project pipeline of a regional market leader.ย
This role sits within the firmโs commercial division, anchored in healthcare construction (OSHPD/HCAi hospital and medical facility projects), with commercial tenant improvement rounding out the portfolio. The Senior Project Manager personally runs the divisionโs most complex and demanding electrical projects while providing day-to-day guidance to a small group of project managers handling their own jobs on an as-needed basis.ย
This is a senior, hands-on role for a project manager who still wants to lead the work directly. The Senior Project Manager takes on the divisionโs most significant projects โ multi-million-dollar healthcare and commercial electrical builds across the public and private sector โ with full ownership of budget, schedule, and delivery, while mentoring and supporting the project managers around them. The position reports to the Division Manager/Vice President and works alongside a small group of fellow senior project managers.ย
Key Responsibilitiesย
Project Leadership & Deliveryย
- Personally manage the divisionโs most complex commercial electrical projects, from preconstruction through closeoutย
- Carry full responsibility for schedule, quality, safety, and delivery on assigned workย
Project Manager Oversight & Mentorshipย
- Provide day-to-day guidance and technical direction to a group of project managers running their own jobsย
- Develop project manager capability and step in on escalations and high-risk situationsย
Financial & Contract Managementย
- Maintain full financial responsibility for assigned projects, including budgets, revenue and profit projections, and cash flowย
- Own customer pay applications, subcontractor and consultant invoicing, and payment status in coordination with the project teamย
- Prepare, approve, and submit project budgetsย
Preconstruction & Riskย
- Review estimates, proposal scope letters, and RFQ/RFP documents for subcontractor and vendor solicitation, and participate in the bid review processย
- Identify and manage project risks and issues, escalating to division leadership as appropriateย
Qualificationsย
Requiredย
- Extensive electrical construction project management experience at a senior level, with a track record on complex projectsย
- Substantial healthcare construction (OSHPD/HCAi) experienceย
- Union (IBEW) contractor experienceย
- Full financial responsibility for multi-million-dollar electrical projects, including budget, schedule, and cash flow managementย
- Experience guiding or overseeing other project managers, not just field crew leadershipย
