Job description

SecurityRI is seeking a professional School Security Officer to join our team at a prestigious private school in Providence, Rhode Island. This full-time daytime position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming campus while supporting the school's educational mission.

This is not a traditional observe-and-report security position. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the campus community by building positive relationships with students, faculty, administrators, parents, and visitors. We are seeking an individual who understands that exceptional security begins with professionalism, visibility, communication, sound judgment, and outstanding customer service.

Shift Available:Monday through Friday

7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

No nights, weekends, or major holidays.

Position Overview:

Security Officers assigned to this private school campus serve as ambassadors of safety while helping foster a positive educational environment. Officers conduct routine interior and exterior foot patrols, monitor campus activity, assist with visitor management, observe building access, identify safety concerns, and provide a reassuring, professional presence throughout the school day.

This position requires frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, parents, contractors, and visitors. Officers must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, exercise sound judgment, and remain approachable while maintaining a strong awareness of their surroundings.

Responsibilities also include responding appropriately to medical incidents, suspicious activity, emergencies, and routine service requests while maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with school administration and SecurityRI Operations.

This is a technology-driven security environment. Attendance, patrol verification, Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, and operational communication are completed using company mobile applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain a highly visible and professional security presence throughout the campus.

Conduct continuous interior and exterior foot patrols of academic buildings, administrative offices, athletic facilities, parking areas, and campus grounds.

Monitor campus access points and assist with visitor management procedures.

Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, parents, contractors, and visitors.

Observe and report suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations.

Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, disturbances, accidents, and other situations requiring security assistance.

Communicate professionally with school administration, Dispatch, SecurityRI Operations, and emergency responders when necessary.

Complete Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, patrol documentation, and all required digital reporting before the conclusion of each shift.

Utilize company mobile applications for attendance, patrol verification, and reporting.

Represent SecurityRI and our client with professionalism, integrity, and accountability at all times.

What We Are Looking For:

This position is ideal for someone who is mature, dependable, approachable, and takes pride in presenting themselves professionally every day.

The successful candidate possesses excellent judgment, emotional maturity, and the confidence to handle situations calmly and professionally. They remain composed under pressure, communicate effectively with people of all ages, and understand how to balance a welcoming presence with a commitment to campus safety.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working around people. Officers assigned to this campus interact daily with students, faculty, administrators, parents, alumni, contractors, and guests. The ideal candidate is courteous, respectful, patient, and capable of building positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

Candidates should be highly observant, proactive, and attentive to detail. Rather than simply reacting to incidents, successful officers identify potential concerns early, recognize unusual behavior, notice safety hazards, and take appropriate action before problems escalate.

Professional appearance and communication are critical. Officers are expected to wear their uniform with pride, demonstrate excellent grooming standards, communicate respectfully, and consistently represent both SecurityRI and our client with the highest level of professionalism.

Applicants must be self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Strong time management, accountability, report writing, and organizational skills are essential.

Experience in school security, campus security, higher education, law enforcement, military service, corrections, emergency medical services, fire service, education, coaching, hospitality, customer service, or other public-facing professions is highly valued. Candidates with exceptional professionalism, maturity, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply, even if they are new to the security industry.

  • Technology Requirements:
  • Applicants must have a smartphone capable of utilizing company applications for attendance, patrol verification, and digital reporting. SecurityRI provides comprehensive training on all required software platforms prior to assignment.

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Ability to successfully pass National and State background screenings.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

    Professional appearance and demeanor.

Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while conducting patrols throughout a large campus.

Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Proficient with smartphones and mobile applications.

Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional service.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion while working in a private school environment.

Commitment to representing SecurityRI and our client with integrity, professionalism, and respect every day.
