Job description

Under supervision, the Criminal Intelligence Analyst (Arson Unit) analyzes evidence, crime reports and databases to assist agents, law enforcement officers and prosecutors in the investigation and successful prosecution of crime.

Identifies criminal activity trends and linkages.

May assess cases to determine what type of data should be collected and the method of collection.

Provides analysis of fingerprint, computer, accounting or other specialized data.

Retrieves and manages crime database information and ensures it is maintained on case intake and dispositions.

Reviews cases to provide the best method of visually portraying events, ie link diagrams, event charts and association charts.

Utilizes specialized computer software to analyze and organize information.

Serves as department Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) officer.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Criminal Intelligence Analyst 1 (PSP130) or equivalent position.
