About this Job
The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
We're looking for a compassionate and reliable Licensed Practical Nurse to provide quality nursing care to residents in stable and predictable conditions at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home, in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act. As an LPN, you will implement selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc., under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.

In this role, you will also:
  • Observe residents for changes in physical status, mental status, or behavior and report significant changes.
  • Prepare and administer medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Transcribe physicians' orders and record medication and the patient's condition in the medical records.
  • Apply dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered and document the procedure.
