Radiation Therapist - R.T.(T)ARRT
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our partner, a leading medical center in Houston, TX. This full-time position is an essential role within the radiation oncology treatment team, responsible for assisting in the planning, treatments, and monitoring of patients. Position Overview
As a Radiation Therapist, you will function as a vital liaison with physicians and supporting personnel, delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring optimal patient safety. Your role involves safely and accurately delivering a planned course of radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. You will utilize your knowledge and skills to provide accurate information and compassionate support to patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care and Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the patient care team to facilitate high-quality service. You will provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed at every step.
  • Clinical Operations: Perform simulation operations and select appropriate immobilization and positioning aids. You will accurately implement the prescribed treatment utilizing department equipment, adhering to all professional, institutional, and governmental standards.
  • Quality and Safety: Uphold principles of radiation protection for patients, yourself, and others. You will maintain proper sterile and aseptic techniques, ensuring compliance with all radiation safety and infection control procedures. You will also perform and document machine operation checks as required.
  • Professional Growth: Manage your time effectively and prioritize daily tasks. You will be encouraged to participate in department projects and continue your professional growth by seeking opportunities for in-service programs and continuing education.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
  • Work Experience: None required; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Required:
      • Texas State Licensure as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).
      • ARRT (T) - Radiologic Technologist - Radiation Therapy. New graduates may be considered, and if selected, must obtain their ARRT (T) within 3 months of hire.
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform all essential job functions.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a team-focused approach.
    • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to adapt to multiple ongoing priorities.
