What is a day shift robotics simulator?

Day Shift Robotics Simulators are professionals who operate and oversee the use of robotic simulation software or equipment during daytime working hours. They ensure that robotic systems are tested, programmed, and optimized in a virtual environment before implementation on the production floor. This role is crucial for identifying issues, improving efficiency, and reducing real-world risks or downtime. Day Shift Robotics Simulators often collaborate with engineers and technicians to update simulation parameters and analyze performance data.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a day shift robotics simulator?

To thrive as a Day Shift Robotics Simulator, you need a solid background in robotics, automation, and computer science, often supported by a relevant degree or technical certification. Familiarity with simulation software, robotic programming languages (such as ROS or Python), and industrial control systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help you interpret simulation results and collaborate with engineering teams. These abilities ensure accurate testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of robotic systems for efficient day shift operations.

What are some common challenges faced by day shift robotics simulators, and how can they be addressed?

Day Shift Robotics Simulators often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting unexpected errors during simulation runs, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of rapidly evolving robotics software, and ensuring accurate data collection for analysis. To address these, it's important to develop strong problem-solving skills, actively participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions, and regularly review system updates or best practices. Collaborating closely with robotics engineers and maintenance teams can also help quickly resolve technical issues and minimize downtime.

Robotic Tester – Data Collection Specialist

Location: Lab Environment

Overview

We are seeking a Robotic Tester – Data Collection Specialist to support robotics development through hands-on testing and operational data collection. This role involves interacting directly with robotic systems in a controlled lab environment, tele-operating devices, and documenting system behavior to support ongoing robotics research and development. This position is ideal for candidates with a STEM background and strong interest in robotics, gaming systems, and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and tele-control robotic systems within a lab environment.

• Interface with robots using wearable devices, controllers, and joystick-based systems.

• Perform multiple testing and data collection sessions throughout the day.

• Map and record visual input and system responses from robotic devices.

• Document testing procedures and outcomes to support ongoing program development.

• Report system issues and observations through established reporting tools.

• Assist with light scripting and system operation tasks (no coding or debugging required).

• Maintain clear documentation to help train new testers joining the program.

Work Environment

• On-site lab setting with frequent interaction with robotics hardware.

• Role may involve extended periods of physical movement and activity during testing.

• Use of game controllers, joysticks, and wearable interfaces to operate robotic systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, etc.).

• Strong interest in robotics, technology, and gaming systems.

• Comfortable operating controllers, wearable devices, and computer interfaces.

• Ability to document processes clearly and follow structured testing procedures.

• Detail-oriented with strong observational skills.

Preferred Background

• Experience with gaming controllers or simulation systems.

• Familiarity with robotics or human-machine interaction systems.

• Interest in robotics testing, data collection, and system validation.

Program Outlook

This role is part of a growing robotics testing initiative with a strong likelihood of extending beyond the initial engagement. Selected candidates may also help train additional team members and refine operational procedures as the program expands.
