Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry (M/S Tele) position requiring telemetry strip interpretation skills and a minimum of 2 years of experience, working night shifts with every other weekend coverage.
Details
- Work on Davenport 8, a 37-bed Medical Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Primary patient diagnoses include CHF, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, EtOH, and dementia with cardiac co-morbidities; occasional surgical patients as well
- Patients are frequently on cardiac drips including Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin
- Unit also cares for NSTEMI, post-pacemaker, and post-cardiac cath lab patients (with and without interventions)
- Night shift RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5โ6
- Day and evening shift RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4 with a max of 5; day shift on weekdays includes a Charge RN without a patient assignment
- Shift hours are 19:00โ07:30 (nights)
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- 36 hours per week
- Floating to applicable units required when needed
- Charting via Epic
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required; no pending or conditional licenses accepted
- Active AHA BLS certification required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted at this location)
- Active AHA ACLS certification required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted at this location)
- Telemetry certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- Knowledge of cardiac drips required
- Experience with post-cardiac catheterization and pacemaker patient care preferred but not required
- Epic EMR experience
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry nursing care including management of patients on cardiac drips and monitoring of cardiac rhythms
- Patients may be admitted from the ED, transferred from other units, or directly admitted by a physician
