Food Is Medicine. So Is Dignity.

At Nashville CARES, we believe access to nutritious food is a critical part of healthcare. Through the CARES Store, clients living with HIV can choose the foods that best meet their needs rather than receiving a pre-packed box. That dignity of choice matters.

We’re looking for a Nutrition Program Lead to oversee the day-to-day operations of the CARES Store and related nutrition services. This role combines program management, logistics, client support, volunteer oversight, and community partnership building. Some days you’ll be reviewing invoices and inventory reports. Other days you’ll be helping a client shop in the store, training new volunteers, or unloading a delivery.

If you’re someone who enjoys creating order out of complexity, values both spreadsheets and people, and wants your work to have a direct impact on the health of your community, we’d love to meet you.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

Keeping the Program Running

  • Manage purchasing, inventory, receiving, stocking, and food distribution
  • Monitor budgets, expenditures, and program utilization
  • Prepare documentation for billing, grants, audits, and reporting
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with program requirements
  • Use data to identify trends and improve services

Supporting Clients

  • Help clients access food and nutrition resources through the CARES Store
  • Connect clients to additional Nashville CARES services when appropriate
  • Respond to changing needs with compassion, flexibility, and good judgment

Working With Volunteers & Community Partners

  • Work closely with volunteers who help keep the program running
  • Build relationships with vendors, food banks, and community partners
  • Represent Nashville CARES in food security and nutrition-related collaborations

Collaborating Across the Agency

  • Serve as the internal resource for nutrition services
  • Partner with case management, peer services, housing, transportation, medical, and support services teams
  • Help ensure clients receive coordinated, holistic care

Qualifications You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience in nonprofit operations, human services, food service, inventory management, logistics, program coordination, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and technology skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grant-funded programs
  • Experience with purchasing, budgeting, or inventory management (Preferred)
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Experience serving people living with HIV or other medically vulnerable populations
  • Advanced Excel skills

Why Consider This Opportunity?

At Nashville CARES, you’ll join a mission-driven team working to end the HIV epidemic in Middle Tennessee. We believe in meeting people where they are, treating everyone with dignity and respect, and supporting both our clients and our staff.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You…

  • Believe food access is a healthcare issue
  • Enjoy balancing people-focused work with operational responsibilities
  • Can manage inventory, invoices, data, and deadlines without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • Are comfortable learning software and using Excel as a practical problem-solving tool
  • Stay calm and solution-focused when priorities shift
  • Can work independently while remaining collaborative and team-oriented
  • Don’t mind lifting, moving, and stocking supplies
