This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0115000and is part of the Oregon Air National Guard 142nd Wing, National Guard.

Help
As an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-8/10, this position is located in the Egress Shop of the Aerospace Systems Section, Field Maintenance Branch, Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of this position is to perform on and off equipment maintenance on aircraft egress systems, such as aircraft ejection seats, extraction and escape systems, egress components of jettison canopies, explosive components of escape hatches and doors, and egress trainers.
1. Troubleshoots, installs, removes, repairs, modifies, adjusts, inspects, and tests such components as regulators, flow indicators, actuator motors, thruster and positioning mechanisms, seat actuators, catapult guide rails, ejection seats, rocket packs, and canopies, etc. Inspects for safety, serviceability and maintainability of systems prior to installation, removal, repair, or adjustments of components and insures proper installation and positioning of safety pins, initiators, simulators, and de-arming mechanisms. Visually inspects ballistic lines, tubes, hoses, and linkage for damage, deterioration, restrictions, and security of connections and mounting, and performs corrective maintenance as required. Stores egress explosives IAW AFOSH standards.
2. Inspects pressurization system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and bottles and regulators for general condition and serviceability. Checks canopy and capsule structure and associated seals, latches, and locks for damage and security. Installs and maintains Jet Assistance Take Off (JATO) systems when applicable. Isolates the malfunction and takes necessary corrective action. Positions, repairs, and adjusts required aerospace ground equipment, such as rail extensions, hoists, sling, dollies, and trailers used in performing maintenance tasks.
3. Performs installation, modification, and repair of aircraft egress systems. Solves unusual installation and maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, schematic and wiring diagrams, applicable technical publications, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of egress systems. Selects proper maintenance and repair procedures and corrects the malfunction and/or defective equipment. Diagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modifications, or other appropriate action. Performs Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO'S) related to egress systems.
4. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Compatible Military AFSC Assignments: 2A6X3 (must have a minimum 3-skill level to be considered). Applicants outside of the ORANG must submit documents showing award of AFSC such as a tech school certificate, Data Brief, vMPF rip, and/or DD214.
  • Military Grades: Minimum military rank is AB/E-1 and maximum rank is SSgt/E-5. Applicants outside of the ORANG must submit documents showing current (or previously held) military grade such as a Data Brief, vMPF rip, and/or DD214.

Qualifications
Areas of Consideration:
Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANG.
Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANG.
Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ANG.
Area 4 - Individuals in the active duty US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard.
Area 5 - US Citizens eligible to meet the military requirements for membership in the Oregon ANG.
GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Work involves troubleshooting, installing, modifying, repairing, and adjusting a variety of aircraft ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching equipment. The work requires a knowledge of aircraft ordnance systems, the ability to recognize and determine the best method to correct malfunctions, and the ability to use test equipment and measuring devices common to the occupation. Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components. Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering drawings. Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks.
To qualify for WG-08: Must have at least 12 months of experience in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications.
To qualify for WG-10: Must have at least 18 months of experience in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications.
