Job Title: Behavior Assistant – Special Education (SPED)

Location: Sterling, VA

Position Type: Contract (19 Weeks)

Pay Rate: $20–$25/hour (Based on Experience)

Work Authorization: Local Candidates Only

Shift & Schedule:

  • Day Shift

  • Monday–Friday

  • School Hours

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavior Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a home-based student in both home and school settings. When not supporting the assigned student, you will assist students at a local elementary school. Candidates with experience working with children with behavioral needs or special education are encouraged to apply. BCBA certification is not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one behavioral and academic support in home and school environments.

  • Implement behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of the educational team.

  • Encourage positive behavior, social skills, and classroom engagement.

  • Assist students with daily learning activities and classroom routines.

  • Document student progress and behavioral observations.

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and families.

  • Support behavior management while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Follow school policies, confidentiality standards, and safety procedures.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with behavioral challenges or special education needs.

  • Behavioral training or hands-on experience implementing behavior support strategies.

  • Experience in a school, special education, childcare, or related setting preferred.

  • Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between the student's home and school.

  • Dependable, compassionate, and committed to student success.

  • BCBA or RBT certification is NOT required. Candidates without these licenses are welcome to apply if they have relevant behavioral experience.
