Overview

SBG seeks a seasoned Senior Data Analyst to serve as a technical lead, transforming complex, large-scale datasets into actionable business insights. The candidate must possess deep functional expertise on VHA systems, processes, and procedures. This role will lead data quality and analytics efforts in support of VA’s EHRM Rapid Decision-Making program, using an array of data analytics tools and will also lean on NLP / ML capabilities. Expertise for this role will enable data-driven decisions for VA EHRM deployments, ServiceNow migration, and patient-safety reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain data through advanced computerized models; extrapolate data patterns through advanced algorithms; develop graphs and charts to display improvements and deteriorations; leverage NLP/ML to advance modeling, coding, and development for the Data Analytics and Insights workstream.
  • Monitor and validate RMA, ServiceNow, and Power Apps data pipelines; proactively surface anomalies, perform root‑cause analysis (SQL/R/Python), and drive remediation with CPMO/OCI owners.
  • Define and operationalize enterprise data‑quality rules, thresholds, and KPI scorecards; codify repeatable QC playbooks and automate checks in Power Automate/SQL/Python; publish results in Purview and related governance tools.
  • Lead Tier 0 → Tier 1 data stewardship and maintain end‑to‑end lineage/metadata in Purview/Collibra, ensuring accessibility, traceability, and VA/VHA compliance.
  • Certify Tableau/Power BI dashboards and reports against integrity and accessibility standards; coordinate remediation with analytics teams.
  • Embed data‑quality gates and validation points in SAFe PI planning, sprint planning, and demos to ensure production‑ready data.
Other Duties
  • Design and deliver visualizations, analysis, and models.
  • Serve as the primary authority for data analysis and reporting across Agile integration, interoperability, and clinical informatics initiatives.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines, perform advanced analytics, and ensure data integrity for clinical and operational decision‑making.
  • Support integration of multiple health IT systems, validate data migration fidelity, and provide actionable insights to program leadership.

Security and Privacy Duties and Responsibilities

Individuals working for SBG Technology Solutions, Inc., a DSS, Inc., will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800‑53. They must undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day‑to‑day performance of their duties. High‑risk departments will require additional advanced training based on role and level of access. Those modifying data and configuration baselines will require further training.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex federal agencies; prior VA or DoW experience highly desirable.
  • Advanced expertise in SQL (query optimization, ETL processes), R (statistical modeling, predictive analytics), Python (data wrangling, automation), Tableau and Power BI (dashboard development, performance optimization).
  • Proven experience with data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra) and enterprise systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Power Apps).
  • Ability to engage with and present to Executive‑level stakeholders, synthesizing complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong background in data quality management and advanced analytics to support organizational decision‑making.
  • In‑depth knowledge of VHA Systems and files, including but not limited to Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), VHA Support Service Center (VSSC), VHA Reports and Measurement Portal (RAMP), Patient Treatment File (PTF) (MedSAS), Managerial Cost Accounting (MCA) System, Primary Care Management Module (PCMM), National Patient Care Database (NPCD), Veterans Services Network Corporate Mini Master File (VETSNET File).
  • Ability to lead workstreams, mentor junior analysts, and manage cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) including automation and advanced analytics integration.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active DOD Secret clearance.
  • Public Trust clearance eligibility and U.S. work authorization required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile environments (e.g., supporting PI Planning, backlog analytics, velocity metrics); data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and ETL processes; Clinical Systems (e.g., VA VistA/CPRS, Oracle Health/Cerner Millennium) and terminology mapping.
  • Strong background in SQL, Python/R, and data governance for HIPAA‑compliant environments.
Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Desired: Master's degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, or Public Health.
Certifications
  • Required: Must be eligible for VA clearance.
  • Desired: Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
Years of Experience
  • Required: 8+ years in analytics, data engineering, and visualization tools (e.g., Azure, Databricks).
  • Required: 8+ years of professional experience in data analytics or health informatics; 5+ years working with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC) and interoperability.
  • Desired: 10+ years of relevant professional experience in data analysis, data governance, and enterprise reporting (federal healthcare or equivalent large‑scale environment preferred).
