Location:

Pasadena, CA; Oakland, CA

Full time (hybrid)

The Decarbonization Data Analyst’s role is to support the solutions and product teams by processing, transforming, and assessing critical customer, market, and institutional data streams. The Data Analyst will also support in evaluating data quality and sensitivity, as well as crafting new analytical tools. The ideal candidate will seamlessly liaise with both technical and customer-centric teams, possessing a passion for leveraging data to address challenges and a strong foundation in data engineering and quantitative analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain python data pipelines for data cleaning and ingestion, integrating both customer-specific and external unstructured datasets into our modeling platform.
  • Lead data validation and analysis for assigned customers, including energy, asset, and telematics data streams. Independently assess data to develop appropriate data analysis methodologies and recommendations.
  • Spearhead independent workstreams to collect new data on decarbonization levers and greenhouse gas accounting, reporting, and standards.
  • Collaborate with decarbonization solutions and technical product teams to embed and enhance data monitoring, ensuring consistency and quality across models over time.
  • Design and build SQL-based logic and queries that power customer and internal visibility for next-generation product. Stay abreast of external trends and leverage modern technologies to solve business problems including but not limited to automation.

Desired Experience:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years in a dedicated data analyst role, showcasing a track record of diving deep into data, extracting insights, and informing business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically, coupled with an eye for detail. The candidate should also possess robust documentation skills, ensuring clarity and comprehension when detailing methodologies, tools, and databases.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Python, familiarity with other programming languages is a plus.
  • Hands on experience with SQL database design, development, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with cloud resources in Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP. Comfortable working within a containerized environment (e.g., Docker-based deployments) maintained by the engineering team; deep DevOps experience is not required.
  • Comfort flexing across the data spectrum, from building production-grade pipelines and queries to lighter-touch tasks like research, manual data entry, and quick turnaround analysis, based on what the team needs.
  • Proactive in setting priorities, displaying initiative, and delivering results, even amidst changing requirements and challenges.
  • Prior exposure to climate, sustainability, energy, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform duties of the job.
  • Thrives in high performing team environment: clearly and confidently assert unique perspectives, proactively collaborate with team members, own individual workstreams while targeting and celebrating team success.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience (target $85,000-$100,000)
  • Employee stock option grant at early-stage, fast-growing startup
  • Company-supported healthcare, dental, and vision
  • 401K available
