Job Title: Manufacturing Technician (Day Shift)
Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician (Day Shift) supports the production of high-quality membrane products used in commercial applications. Working under the supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this role focuses on preparing and mixing chemical solutions, operating roll-to-roll and other industrial equipment, and performing basic equipment maintenance. The Manufacturing Technician follows detailed manufacturing processes, uses laboratory tools to coat membrane sheets, and accurately records production data to ensure consistent quality and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and mix chemical solutions by following detailed recipes to create coatings for membrane sheets.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as balances/scales, stir plates, and fume hoods to accurately measure, mix, and dispense solutions.
  • Operate large roll-to-roll coating equipment to apply coatings to membrane sheets according to manufacturing specifications.
  • Run sheets through lamination machines to apply coatings and ensure proper adhesion and alignment.
  • Apply adhesive to laminated filter sheets in a consistent and controlled manner.
  • Stack and compress membrane sheets using compressor machines to meet product and process requirements.
  • Operate various industrial machines throughout the manufacturing floor and monitor their performance during production.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues with industrial equipment and resolve errors to minimize downtime.
  • Perform basic maintenance on production and laboratory equipment as needed to support reliable operation.
  • Follow established manufacturing processes and instructions to ensure consistent product quality and safety.
  • Collect, record, and maintain relevant production data, including process parameters and results, in spreadsheets and other documentation tools.
  • Enter production and process data into Excel and other systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals safely and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Use measuring tools to weigh and measure materials, and perform basic calculations to support correct formulations and batch sizes.
  • Collaborate with other manufacturing technicians on the production floor and move between different rooms and machines as needed to support workflow.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • 2+ years of experience operating industrial machinery.
  • 2+ years of experience performing basic troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
  • 1+ years of experience handling chemicals or similar materials.
  • Proficiency in machine operation within a manufacturing or production setting.
  • Experience with assembly and fabrication in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Experience with chemical mixing, including following recipes and handling materials safely.
  • Ability to use measuring tools for weighing and measuring materials accurately.
  • Capability to perform basic calculations related to measurements, quantities, and formulations.
  • Comfort using Excel or similar tools for data entry and record keeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate production records.
  • Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment with multiple machines and processes running concurrently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as balances/scales, stir plates, and fume hoods.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll coating equipment or similar continuous processing machinery.
  • Experience operating lamination machines and compressor equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing floor with multiple rooms, each dedicated to specific steps in the production process and equipped with different types of machinery. The environment can be busy, with manufacturing technicians moving throughout the facility and various machines running simultaneously. The dress code is very casual, but safety is a priority, and employees must wear safety shoes and safety glasses. The facility uses a range of industrial and laboratory equipment, including roll-to-roll coaters, lamination machines, compressors, mixers, balances, stir plates, and fume hoods. Multiple shifts are available, including 1st Shift (5:30 am–2:00 pm), 2nd Shift (1:30 pm–10:00 pm), and 3rd Shift (9:30 pm–6:00 am), subject to availability.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.50/hr.
