Job description

Looking for energetic people who want to have a career working in our plant! Looking for an experienced Kettle Operator.

Guaranteed annual pay increases; as Kettle 7 Operator you will start at $26.74 per hour, plus shift differential 5.5% on base rate for any hours worked. Increase to $30.68 hr. after 1 year and $35.11 hr. after 2 years with our tier system.

Afternoon shift position, Monday-Friday 3:45pm-11:45pm

Durez produces thermosetting phenolic resins and molding compounds that cover a wide range of application and industries. We are a global organization committed to exceeding our customers’ expectations in material performance, customer service, technical expertise, and product quality. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days. After 90 days have a 401K w/ $1 for $1 match on first 3% of base pay, paid time off.

DUTIES:

  • Weigh raw materials and charge them accurately to kettles.
  • Operate the kettle in accordance with formula procedure, and with the necessary care and attention to produce a satisfactory product without undue wear or damage to equipment dump batches.
  • Clean the bottom of kettle, install new gaskets or chip kettle, if necessary.
  • Before charging the kettle, the operator must check to see if it has been properly cleaned.
  • Charge and operate additional kettles, if required, while other batches are under operation and do not require full attention.
  • Operator must be familiar with the kettle operation of all standard formulas so that he is in position to run batches of resin without help from the foreman in charge.
  • Must notify foreman immediately when any operating equipment needs oil, repairs, etc. for their proper operation.
  • Perform all in-process lab testing and associated equipment calibrations as required.
  • When available, may be assigned to utility job function as required.
  • Stage charges at the kettle(s) as required.
  • Operate forklift as instructed by supervision or as required to perform his/her job duties.
  • Perform any other assigned work for which employee is qualified.
  • Keep equipment and assigned work area clean and in order.
  • Perform any and all supplemental duties involving the use of common skills while performing normal job functions.
  • During the course of performing job duties, must be able to prevent/contain chemical spills in order to ensure employee safety and protection of the environment.
  • KETTLE 7
    1. Operate kettle as required and as stated in Items 1 to 15 above. In addition, load finished products from the kettle to bulk trucks and other containers when possible, including use of the autofill.

Compliance with all health, safety, environmental regulations, and requirements Durez subscribes to including the handling of hazardous materials in conjunction with PSM and RMP. This position, as do all other positions at the Niagara Falls plant, adheres to all quality regulations and requirements to support the plant’s customer focused initiatives.

Qualification:

Must be physically able to perform job duties as specified above. Must climb stairs and ladders, use hand tools & jackhammer, shovel, push & pull various non-powered material handling equipment, operate valves, and operate forklift in a safe manner.

Prior Kettle operation experience required

Ability to arrive on time and work scheduled shifts

Basic math skills

Ability to follow written and verbal direction

Attention to detail

Ability to life up to 50 lbs.

Details:

Full-time, Monday-Friday,3:45pm - 11:45pm, 40 hours per week (Some Overtime time and one-half plus +3.5% shift diff. on base rate). Benefits start at 30 days.
